Kevin Durant managed to achieve what he sought when departing the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors in 2016, winning a championship a year later in a moment he calls a defining one in his life:

“It's very rare in our lives when we envision and picture something and it comes together the perfect way you envision it,” Durant told J.R. Moehringer of WSJ. Magazine. “[Winning a title] was the only time in my life that happened, and that summer was the most exhilarating time. Every day I woke up I just felt so good about myself, so good about life… That was a defining moment in my life—not just my basketball life.”

Durant would get that same feeling once again the next year, this time sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals to put a final stamp on the rivalry between the two teams.

After three years in the Bay Area, Durant will now chase that same exhilarating feeling with the Brooklyn Nets, hoping to shape that franchise alongside best friend Kyrie Irving. Durant had reached the NBA Finals in 2012, but that young Oklahoma City Thunder team was way too ripe to muster excellence against a star-studded Miami Heat team.

The former scoring champion got two chances to return the favor to LeBron James, handing him two losses at the big stage, punching a strong 8-1 record in the NBA Finals after losing 4-1 during the early stretch of his career.
