Wade was due $23.8 million this season, an option he picked up fully intending to play out the season with then-teammate Jimmy Butler. Soon after, the Bulls traded Butler and went into full-tank mode, something Wade has no interest in this late in his career.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Wade gave back about eight million from his $23.8 million deal with the Windy City team.

Wade ended up playing just 60 games in one season for his hometown Chicago Bulls, averaging 18.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.4 steals per game on 43.4-percent shooting from the field in what was a drama-filled 2016-17 season.
