It did not take long for Kyrie Irving to announce the start of his era with the Boston Celtics. With his team opening their preseason on Monday against the Charlotte Hornets, the newly-acquired point guard completed an impressive play to the delight of the Beantown faithful inside the TD Garden.
With 7:10 left in the first quarter, the four-time All-Star received the ball through a perfect bounce pass from Al Horford, then immediately rolled to the basket for a two-handed slam in front of Nicolas Batum. It drew lots of cheers from the fans, as he is already starting to endear himself to them.

The Celtics traded for Kyrie Irving back in August and parted ways with Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, and a future draft pick. Although it can be considered quite a haul to secure his services, they think very highly of him, and see him as a cornerstone of the franchise.
Now with a retooled lineup, Celtics fans are hoping that they have enough talent in their team to get over the hump and make it back to the Finals this coming season. Irving will be relied upon heavily to run the offense and use his championship experience to lead the team in their quest, as they look to topple the Cleveland Cavaliers in the East, and win a title for the first time in 10 years.
