For the Boston Celtics organization, today is all about Paul Pierce, especially after the drubbing their team took at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers, but that doesn't mean there weren't questions about other former players that were in town for the ceremony.

Former Celtics coach Doc Rivers was asked about another one of the Celtics big three, and he gave Scott Souza of GateHouse Media this answer:

Celtics Doc Rivers on whether Kevin Garnett's No. 5 should go up in rafters next: I hope so. He’s a tough one. He definitely should be.

Doc Rivers was back in town for the retirement ceremony and made sure it was known he was there for Pierce, and not the Celtics.

On July 31st, 2007, Rivers helped get a trade done that saw Garnett come from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Celtics in exchange for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, cash considerations and two first-round draft picks.

Garnett played with the Celtics from 2007-13 and he enjoyed some of the best seasons of his career. He played in 71 games in the 2008 season averaging 18.8 points, 9.2 rebounds 3.4 assists per game. He also helped lead the Celtics to the NBA championship, the only one he won in his career.

After winning the championship, Garnett had one of the most memorable interviews of his career.

He was overcome with emotion and shouted into the microphone, “anything is possible.”

In terms of Garnett getting his jersey retired, that is still to be seen, but one thing is for sure, his former coach Doc Rivers looks to be his biggest fan.
