After being hired by the Boston Celtics as their head coach, Doc Rivers' leadership took the Celtics to the 2008 NBA Championship. Rivers is acclaimed with being one of the best coaches in the NBA. Though, he left all of his memories in Boston behind to join the Clippers in 2014. On Sunday, Rivers reflected on his time in Boston, declaring that he didn't regret leaving the Celtics. He did state that he does miss coaching the Celtics, per Bill Doyle of the Worchester Telegram.

Doc Rivers said he doesn't regret leaving Celtics because after nine years, it was time for him to move on, but he said he's missed Boston since the day he left.

Rivers has led the Clippers to four straight postseason appearances. Nonetheless, he has failed to lead the Clippers past the second round of the postseason. In previous news, Celtics GM Danny Ainge expressed that he respected Rivers enough to try to convince him to stay before he left the Celtics.

“We tried to talk him into staying. It’s hard to predict how building a new team is going to be, but he had done it once and we had faith in him. But he didn’t want to do it. He wanted to go try to win an NBA title, and who can knock him for that?

“I’ll forever be grateful for Doc and all that he did. I’ll always appreciate what he did for us.”

The Celtics have now completed a successful rebuilding operation and are one of the best teams in the NBA. The Clippers are fighting for positioning in the postseason, while Rivers attempts to help the Clippers rebuild.
