After seeing the gruesome injury Gordon Hayward suffered on opening night, one could only imagine what kind of pain he was experiencing that time. Although he was stretchered out of the floor and was immediately sent back to Boston to have tests and surgery done, the Boston Celtics forward was reportedly only given an over-the-counter pain reliever.
It has been reported that when Hayward made his way back to Beantown, he only took Tylenol despite being initially diagnosed with a fractured ankle. While it’s still made for pain relief, it’s surprising that he wasn’t given anything with higher dosage as he was clearly in a world of pain as soon as he fell to the floor.
Gordon Hayward rode all the way back to Boston with a broken ankle on just Tylenol, which makes my joints ache to think about.

A flight from Cleveland to Boston usually takes around an hour and 45 minutes on average, and that means the All-Star forward had to endure whatever pain he could still feel after taking Tylenol during the duration of the flight back. However, it also speaks of how high his tolerance for pain is, which people handle differently.
Gordon Hayward is currently on his way to recovery, but he's no longer expected to return to the hardwood this season for the Celtics.
