Boston Celtics swingman Marcus Smart has been out for the last several games with a hand injury he suffered after punching something in a hotel room recently. Now it appears that injury will keep him out for an even longer amount of time.
The team announced Sunday that Smart will not return to action until after the All-Star break, per Bill Doyle of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.

Smart being out that long is not good for the Celtics. There are still some games before the official start of the All-Star break, and Smart is still hurt with no real timetable for his return other than the vague update from the team.
Article Continues BelowHow long after the break will he be back? One day? A week? Seven games? That detail was apparently not conveyed to reporters on Sunday.
Smart punched a picture frame, which resulted in several lacerations to his hand. He had to have stitches.
There was some talk about possibly trading Smart before the trade deadline, but he remained with the Celtics. He maintained that the trade talk had nothing to do with this hand.
But every day that goes by, the team must be starting to get frustrated about the fact that Smart is not playing because of his own lack of judgement. He has to heal from an injury that could have been easily prevented, and likely shouldn't have happened in the first place.
Be that as it may, the timeline is the timeline. The Celtics need Smart, and the sooner he is back and playing well, the better for him and the team.
