LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets' three-game winning streak was snapped by the Boston Celtics in a thrilling overtime game 140-129.

The duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown led the way for the Celtics. The young tandem combined for 71 total points. Even so, the Hornets did a great job weathering the storm. This game was a back-and-forth affair all throughout regulation with several lead changes.

The Hornets just ran out of gas at the end of the finish line. Both squads are coming off the back end of a back-to-back, so it was expected, especially as the game entered overtime.

Still, the Hornets played well enough to win. LaMelo Ball put on a show with 25 points, nine assists, and 5 boards. He controlled the pace of the game and made timely baskets in regulation. Despite the loss, Ball is still upbeat and knows there is a lot to pull away from that game. Saying, “We're going to take a lot of stuff from this ‘L', that will help us in the future.”

One of the things to highlight in this loss is the number of three-pointers that was hoisted up by the Hornets.

LaMelo Ball took 14 of them. He made seven, but only attempted five shots inside the arc. Kelly Oubre and Miles Bridges took 10 apiece. They shot 43 percent on the night though, so it wasn't a bad shooting night. They just settled for it at times inside of driving in and taking advantage of mismatches. On defense, Boston switched pretty much everything.

“We were better when the ball was touching the paint and kicking it out for threes,” James Borrego said.

They both did have 19 threes made, but too many might have been forced on Charlotte’s end. Still, it was a great effort from them. Miles Bridges finished another game with at least 25 points or more, making it his 3rd straight game doing so.

Bridges was named the Eastern Conference Player of the week a few hours before tip-off. His performance tonight showed why. He continues to be instant offense whenever he touches the ball. The way he slashes to the rim and how he operates in space on the wings is fun to watch. He has made an emphasis to move more effectively without the basketball and it's paying dividends for the Hornets.

Again, it was the second night of a back-to-back. Going into overtime is not an ideal situation after playing a game the day before. LaMelo Ball and company will have time to rest their legs for a day and get back to work against the Orlando Magic on October 27th.
