The New York Knicks aren’t doing pretty well in the league, as they’re only in the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference, but this doesn’t mean we can’t have a little bit of fun from them. This time, it was Chicago Bulls rookie Lauri Markkanen, who was the source of yet another entertaining story.
According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, Markkanen’s pre-draft meeting with the Knicks management was so unorthodox that he was forced to do something most would consider disgusting. The no. 7 pick of the 2017 NBA Draft says that Knicks President Phil Jackson made him taste raw fish, and even raw steak during one of their encounters.
The Finnish rookie continues by saying that he didn’t like it at all. Unfortunately for Jackson, the meetings turned out fruitless as he was eventually drafted by the Bulls.

The unsuccessful transfer was praised by fans as Markkanen was supposedly the replacement for Kristaps Porzingis. Knowing that the 7-foot-3 Latvian is the face of the game, it’s easy to see why New York fans weren't too keen on drafting another player with matching skillset.
However, things took a surprising turn of events as Markannen’s first NBA game proved that his ceiling might be similar to Porzingis', or even higher. Both players hail from Europe, and are also 7-footers that have an athletic touch to the game.
Aside from his achievement that game, the Bulls also won against the Knicks on a double OT victory 122-119 last Wednesday night. Markkanen averages 15.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game. He also has a field goal and free throw percentage of 42.8 and 84.6, respectively.
