The Chicago Bulls are young and a team that's clearly in a rebuilding process. Outside of rising rookie Lauri Markkanen and maybe Zach LaVine, every other player on their roster could be available to trade.

That, however, doesn't mean that they are going to rush shipping their remaining assets just to get picks or free salary cap space — not even to veteran stretch four, Nikola Mirotic, who is attracting many teams that are willing to give up pieces. They are planning to gather as many offers as possible and go from there.

Here's an excerpt of what Joe Cowley of Chicago Sun Times wrote in his column today regarding Mirotic's trade talks:

“A source indicated the Bulls will continue to be patient with the process, making sure they leave potential buyers ample time to get into the mix or to raise their offers.”

Mirotic and the Bulls management have been through a lot in the past couple of months — courtesy of the costly fight with Bobby Portis, the trade demands, etc. — but both parties seem to work together to do what's best for their future.

Despite coming back from a jaw injury and having some uncertainty on where he could be dealt on or before the Feb. 8 trade deadline, Mirotic has been consistently playing well. He's currently averaging 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.8 threes per game on 47.9 percent shooting on the season, all of which are career-highs.

Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg, meanwhile, has been very appreciative of how well Mirotic has responded from all the roller-coaster the season has brought, noting that “Niko [Mirotic] has been awesome throughout this process.”
