Chicago Bulls shooting guard Dwyane Wade knew just how to kill two birds with one stone, as he apologized to his wife, Gabrielle Union, for not buying her anything for her 44th birthday and made a slight dig at the NBA for his recent misconduct fine.

Wade took to Instagram, posting a photo of his wife from a nature shoot and captioned it with: “Happy Birthday ageless one. I would have gotten you something extravagant but I just got fined for 25 grand. Set a brother back like a big dog BUT we will enjoy your day.”

Wade received a $25,000 fine for a throat-slashing gesture after hitting a late three-pointer to extend the Bulls lead over the Boston Celtics on Thursday.

Chances are his wife isn't buying much of this excuse, as he signed a two-year, $47 million contract with his hometown Bulls this summer.

Nice try D-Wade, and happy birthday Mrs. Union.
