With only days left until the end of the trade deadline, there has been a growing belief that the Cleveland Cavaliers would try to move Kevin Love without LeBron James in the roster, according to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.

This is a likely sign that the team intends to shift toward a complete rebuild if James leaves, shedding the remaining weight of salary to start anew with younger stars in the making.

The Cavs have a $134 million payroll this season, making the team go far over the league's $119.3 million luxury-tax line. After seasons of making strong push after strong push to make the NBA Finals, the team has been over the luxury line for several years in a row, and now the Cavs are slated to owe $43 million in tax penalties this summer.

Putting James out of the picture signifies taking any willingness on Dan Gilbert's part to pay the luxury tax again, making the front office's main concern to shed as much salary as possible to make this avoidable.

Love has put up one of his best seasons since first wearing the Cavs uniform, putting up averages of 17.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 46 percent from the floor and a 40 percent clip from deep.

Regardless of his progress, Love holds little value as the franchise's lone star after years of playing as a support All-Star teammate and bound to be 30 years old before the new season starts in 2019.

Once again, whether James stays or goes will determine the entire scope of his teammates' destinies this summer.
