The battle of Tinseltown happened on Monday night when the young Los Angeles Lakers matched up against the struggling L.A. Clippers at Staples Center. As always, the game brought out the best in both teams in a battle for bragging rights.
This contest stayed true to its promise with lobs, dunks, screaming fans, scrambling on the floor for loose balls, and back and forth basketball were all over the night.
Clippers star Blake Griffin played 36 minutes where he contributed 26 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists late. However, he would leave the game late in the fourth quarter courtesy of an unexpected twist.
In the unfortunate play that can be seen in the video below, Lonzo Ball would be stripped on the next possession where Griffin reached for the loose ball. In the process, the Clippers star collided heads with the Lakers rookie and fell backward as teammate Austin Rivers fell on his leg and twisted his knee at the same time.
Looks like Austin Rivers was tripped and fell on Blake Griffin's knee and pushed it towards the ground. That injury did not look good in slow-motion. #Clippers

The 6'10” forward would remain in the game until the Clippers called a timeout two possessions later.

The bad news is that Blake Griffin left the game for good. The good news, though, is that he walked into the locker room without needing assistance.
After the game he left without speaking to reporters, limping but on his own two feet.
Blake Griffin was not available for comment. He did walk out of the locker room with a slight limp but under his own power. #Clippers
