Memphis Grizzlies swingman Chandler Parsons is in disbelief that he'll likely be booed upon his return to the arena he called home for the past two seasons — American Airlines Center.

The former Dallas Maverick suited up 127 times for the team, averaging 13.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game last season. His year was cut short by a meniscus injury that required season-ending surgery:

“Houston, I get it. I said some stupid stuff on the way out of Houston. Dallas, I don't understand,” Parsons told Tim MacMahon of ESPN. “It's like getting mad at somebody for getting in a car wreck and breaking their arm. Like, how in the world can you be mad at somebody for getting hurt? It makes no sense.”

Parsons' injury was one of the main reasons he wasn't re-signed to a max contract this past offseason. The Grizzlies, who took the gamble on the 28-year-old, have been rewarded so far with 6.8 points and 3.2 rebounds from Parsons during limited minutes in five games.

His relationship with owner Mark Cuban, which was thought to be tight-knit, turned sour after Chandler's business decision to sign with Memphis.

Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle still holds the Florida alum in high regard:

“He's a guy that is really going to help their team. [The Grizzlies] were smart to sign him as a piece that can finish off a contending team,” Carlisle told MacMahon. “A wing player like that that can shoot it, can make plays, can rebound and play the overall game really enhances their overall situation. He's going to help their club contend this year. I really believe that to be fact.”

Parsons still can't understand why the Mavericks would hold any grudge in their heart for something he had no control of:

“That's just so wrong to get mad at somebody for getting hurt, like they want to go through the rehab, want to go through the pain, want to go through the misery of not playing,” said Parsons. “I can never understand that aspect of it. So when it comes to Dallas, you're going to get mad at me because Dirk (Nowitzki) decided to take less money to bring in a really good player and then unfortunately he gets hurt? That's why you're mad? Sure, boo.”
