Following a difficult year of injuries, Dallas Mavericks point guard Deron Williams is working to get his health back to where it needs to be.

Williams missed 17 games last year due to a left abdominal strain and an injury to his left hamstring. He has spent the most part of the summer rehabilitating.

Three days into training camp, Williams is pleased to be back on the court and is beginning to feel himself again. The former Brooklyn Nets guard even revealed that he is roughly seven pounds overweight due to his inability to physically exert himself over the summer, as per Dwain Price of Star Telegram.

“The last month I’ve been trying to get back in shape, rehab, make sure my core is back and strong and make sure I was ready to go to camp,” Williams said. “I couldn’t do anything — lifting, cardio, anything. I got cleared [to practice] and I’ve been able to participate in everything we’ve done. I’m feeling pretty good.”

Mavericks fans will be hoping that Williams can return to full health sooner rather than later, as since his arrival in Texas, the 32-year-old has shown flashes of what made him a three-time NBA all-star between 2010-2012.
