Just one day after an impressive Dallas Mavericks debut, Anthony Davis received a troubling injury update. Davis initially suffered the injury during the Mavericks’ game against the Houston Rockets on Saturday, but afterward he stated he was fine. However, it appears as if the injury might have been a little worse than he was letting on.
The fear from the Mavericks is that he will be sidelined indefinitely with an adductor injury, as per NBA insider Marc Stein. Stein also reports that the Mavericks will discuss injury treatment option for Anthony Davis on Monday.
This is certainly not the kind of news that Mavericks fans want to hear following the shocking trade of franchise star Luka Doncic. Prior to Davis’ debut against the Rockets, Mavericks fans gathered outside of the arena in protest.
Davis had a strong showing in his first game with the Mavericks, finishing with 26 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists. It was a brief reminder of the type of player the Mavs were getting. But with this latest news, fans are not likely to get over the Doncic trade anytime soon.




While Davis has certainly battled injury concerns during his career, he has been relatively healthy the past fee seasons with the Lakers. This year, he had appeared in 42 games, at a little over 34 minutes per game, and was arguably the Lakers’ best player.
He had been averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.1 blocked shots with splits of 52.8 percent shooting from the field, 29.8 percent shooting from the three-point line and 78.8 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
Prior to the trade, Davis had left the Lakers road trip early and returned to Los Angeles due to an injury scare sustained during the team’s loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Jan. 28. Davis has only nine more games he can miss this season before he becomes ineligible for any postseason awards.
