The shock of the trade that went down last Saturday involving the Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers has yet to wear off. It's going to linger for a very long time, with former Dallas franchise player Luka Doncic now with the Lakers, who sent Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a future pick to the Mavs. Despite the stunning nature of that transaction, Davis and Christie seem to be genuinely excited about starting new chapters of their respective careers in the NBA.

Davis and Christie recently sent a message to Mavericks fans, expressing their thrill and outlook for the chance to play for Dallas.

“We're excited to be part of the organization, being part of the team,” Davis said with Christie beside him (per the Mavericks' official Instagram account). “We're gonna do something special with ya'll, man. Win a lot of games. We're excited, and we can't wait to get on the floor, support the team, and do what we do best. Go Mavs!”

The Mavs are the 31-year-old Davis' third team in the NBA. He started his pro career with the New Orleans Pelicans, who took him in the first round (first overall pick) in the 2012 NBA draft. In 2019, he was traded by the Pelicans to the Lakers in a three-team blockbuster trade that also involved the Washington Wizards.

For Christie, who will be turning 22 years old on Feb. 10, this is just the first time in his young NBA career that he got traded. The former Michigan State Spartans star began his NBA career with the Lakers, who picked him in the second round (35th overall) in the 2022 NBA draft.

When will Max Christie, Anthony Davis debut for the Mavericks?

Don't expect to see Davis on the court and in Mavs threads this Tuesday night when Dallas returns to action for a showdown on the road versus the Philadelphia 76ers. Davis, who missed two consecutive games with the Lakers before the trade, is listed out with an upper-body injury on the NBA's official injury report.

Christie, on the other hand, is listed as available, so there's a fair chance that Mavericks fans will get to see him make his debut for Dallas against the Sixers.

Davis is averaging 25.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per game in the 2024-25 NBA regular season while Christie is putting up 8.5 points and 2.7 boards per contest in the same campaign.

The Mavericks, who are coming off a 144-101 blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, will enter the 76ers game with a 26-24 record.
