The Dallas Mavericks dropped to 12-20 on the year after a 126-116 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day. Mavs rookie Cooper Flagg played well, scoring 27 points with a historic stat line on a positive note on Christmas Day. But, injury woes continued as the Mavs saw Anthony Davis leave the game early with an injury.

After the loss, head coach Jason Kidd didn't have a firm update on the big man, but one was provided on Friday by Shams Charania of ESPN.

“Mavericks star Anthony Davis has sustained a minor groin strain and is likely to miss a few games, sources tell ESPN. Davis, a significant trade target, will be evaluated daily. Mavs have taken a cautious approach with injuries, specifically for Davis, and will continue to do so.”

Davis played just 10 minutes on Thursday before exiting with the groin injury, and he has played just 16 games this season.

The former Los Angeles Lakers star has suffered a lot of injuries throughout his career, but this latest one is just another issue. Currently, he leads the Mavs with 20.5 PPG, although he has played just under half the games that Flagg has, who is averaging 19.4 PPG.

Right now, the Mavs are 11th in the Western Conference and just can't get things figured out. And, some speculation has surfaced about whether or not the Mavs should trade Davis, although that remains to be seen if it has any legs.

Dallas faces the Sacramento Kings on the road on Saturday and then the Portland Trail Blazers before going into the month of January, and, once again, Davis' status will be one to keep an eye on.
