The Dallas Mavericks are still having to answer questions after trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers earlier in the season. Nico Harrison has been the one who has had to answer all of the questions, and he recently answered a handful during his latest press conference. There's no way that Harrison made the Doncic trade by himself, and he had to have asked owner Patrick Dumont if the trade was okay to do.

Dumont must have given him the green light, and the fans have been coming down on Harrison about making the move. Though some think that the relationship between Harrison and Dumont may be in question, the general manager says it's been better than ever.

“GM Nico Harrison says his relationship with Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont has actually been ‘strengthened' over the past two-plus months despite the tremendously negative reaction to the trade of Luka Dončić,” Harrison said via Marc Stein on X, formerly Twitter.

As of now, it seems like Harrison's job is safe despite the backlash he has received from the fans, and that's what he reiterated when he was asked why he thinks he shouldn't be fired.

“Well, one, I think I've done a really good job here, and I don't think I can be judged by the injuries this year,” Harrison said. “You have to judge from totality from beginning to end. I think I have a really good working relationship with Patrick [Dumont]. I think you add in Rick [Welts], the leadership that we have is really elite. You'll see when your team comes back that we're going to be competing for a championship.”

At this point, it looks like the Mavericks fans are going to have to see it through with the team, and the hope is that they can show some positive signs, not just next season, but for the foreseeable future.
