According to a report from nbcdfw.com, Norton Cuban, father of NBA Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, has died at the age of 92.
“Norty,” as Norton was affectionately known, was said to be the entrepreneurial spirit behind his sons (Mark, Brian, and Jeff). According to those who were close to him, he enjoyed attending Mavericks games and took great pride in his children.
“My dad says it over and over,” Mark Cuban often says, referring to his father's wisdom. “‘Today's the youngest you're ever going to be. You've got to live like it. You've got to live young every day.' And that's what I try to do.”
Norton's cause of death has not yet been officially disclosed. However, in an interview with The Dallas Morning News last fall, Mark noted that his father was in failing health.
Brian Cuban confirmed his father's death with a nostalgic Twitter post.

The Cuban's grew up in a Pittsburgh, PA suburb (Mount Lebanon, Pa). Norton, along with another relative, served as co-owners of an automobile upholstery shop. Finances were an issue at that time, but Mark (as well as his siblings) used that struggle as motivation. The three sons eventually landed in Dallas in the early 2000's, with Jeff and Brian becoming lawyers. Mark, as we all know, went on to become a highly-successful businessman.
Plans for Norton's memorial service are still in the works. We'll try to keep you updated with more information on this topic as it becomes available. For now, join us in sending condolences to the Cuban family.
