The Dallas Mavericks' win over the Phoenix Suns in Game 4 was overshadowed by an incident involving Chris Paul's family.

Paul told security during the game that a fan had put their hands on his mother. A fan had reportedly been physical with Paul's wife and mother in front of Paul's children. While the Mavs secured a win and tied up the series against the Suns, Paul's family was dealing with grossly disrespectful fans.

The Mavs released a statement regarding the incident. They said that they are aware of the incident and removed the fan. Dallas called the behavior unacceptable.

Incidents like these are ugly enough but it is especially grotesque to happen on Mother's Day. The Mavs made the obvious move to get rid of the offending fan. This is not the first time fans have made players' families feel unsafe, including in the NBA playoffs.

The Suns lost by a score of 111-101 to lose their lead in the series. Paul recorded just five points to go along with seven assists and five rebounds. While the All-Star has to shake off a pair of bad performances, he will also have to console his family after the despicable confrontation.

The Suns and Mavs will now travel back to Phoenix for Game 5 on Tuesday.
