Former Dallas Mavericks power forward Dirk Nowitzki is currently in the midst of his first season away from the game as the NBA and Mavs legend finally chose to call it a career following the conclusion of the 2018-19 campaign.

However, the German big man has remained a mainstay in Dallas while Nowitzki has regularly been seen at Mavs games throughout this season. Although his presence in Dallas remains constant, Nowitzki recently admitted that he is “completely at peace” with his decision to retire from professional basketball last year.

“Instead, I kept looking out there and I didn’t feel anything,” Nowitzki told the The Dallas Morning News this week. “I can honestly say I didn’t miss it at all. I couldn’t picture myself being out there. I guess that shows I’m completely at peace with it.”

Despite retiring from the NBA, Nowitzki remains quite busy in his life after basketball — and he doesn't seem to mind. In fact, he is very content with what he has going on at the moment.

Back on the floor, Nowitzki's former team in the Mavs are currently being led by yet another European sensation in second-year point guard Luka Doncic. Even after an oustanding rookie season in 2018-19, Doncic has truly burst onto the NBA scene in his sophomore season in the United States — and in a big way.

Doncic and the 31-19 Mavericks sit in sixth place in the always competitive Western Conference as it stands today.
