Dirk Nowitzki is hosting his eighth annual celebrity baseball game this Friday, and a lot of his pals are coming to participate.

The Dallas Mavericks legend, who recently retired from the NBA after 21 seasons, was humbled by the outpouring of support from his peers for his yearly gig:

“It’s humbling that guys make room in their schedules — I know how it is,” Nowitzki said per Dwain Price of Mavs.com. “As celebrities we have tons of hours on our schedule all the time, and you get yanked in a different direction at all times.

“For those guys to make time and make that game a priority and show up every year, it’s very humbling. But I think it’s also because the event is so much fun (and why) a lot of fans come out and support it every year.”

Certainly, Nowitzki knows the busy life of an athlete or a celebrity, being a well-renowned basketball superstar himself. With the German legend just fresh off his swan song from the NBA, everybody wants to join in on the fun.

Some of the personalities include former teammates such as Michael Finley, Dennis Smith Jr. and Shawn Marion, current Mavs players such as Jalen Brunson, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Devin Harris, among others, and even Mavericks owner Marc Cuban.

Some members of the Dallas Cowboys will also participate, as well as former Cowboy Dez Bryant.

Nowitzki admitted that he isn't sure until when he can continue to host the annual baseball game. He, however, assured that as long as he's having fun with it and fans are enjoying the event, he'll continue to host the annual gig for as long as he wants.
