Dallas Mavericks forward-center Dirk Nowitzki revolutionized the game as soon as he stepped onto the court. Who knew that a 7'0 big man can possess such a soft and smooth stroke? He already established these facts long ago. Right now, what he's aiming for is longevity.
As reported by Dwain Price, Mavs.com reporter, Dirk has added another milestone in his long and impressive career:
Tonight, Dirk tied Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Robert Parish for the most games played (74) by a player in his 20th season. In his 20th season Abdul-Jabbar played 74 games in the 1988-'89 campaign. And in his 20th season Parish played 74 games in the 1995-'96 campaign. #Legends

The 39-year-old German seems to have won it all. He already has a ring and an MVP trophy in his case, along with multiple All-Star appearances, All-NBA selections, but more importantly, he seems to have figured out the formula for having a healthy career.
Article Continues BelowHe'll be 40 next season. Many believe that Dirk can retire from the game without regret as there isn't anything he hasn't accomplished. Yet it seems like Dirk is not yet ready to say goodbye. Per Marc Stein of the The New York Times, Dirk feels great and will come back for his 21st season next year:
“As of now, I'm planning to come back,” Nowitzki told the Times this week. “I feel great. I've only missed one game all season. I signed a two-year contract because I wanted to play two more years. And here we are.”
Players like Dirk do not come often. He has the talent, stamina, and unconditional love for the game. He averages just 12.1 points a night, a far cry from his career average 21.2 a game. On top of this, the Mavericks are nowhere near the playoff race with a 23-52 record. Despite all this, he continues to play. Maybe he simply loves the game.
