The Dallas Mavericks suffered their second straight double-digit defeat on Saturday night. Safe to say head coach Jason Kidd was not pleased.

Luka Doncic had to carry the load all by himself as the team largely struggled to put points on the board to support him. The Mavs star had 37 points on an efficient 13-for-20 shooting clip. The rest of the team shot just 37.7% from the field. No other scorer had more than 12 points, which came from an unlikely source in backup guard Frank Ntilikina.

“He came to play,” coach Jason Kidd said of Doncic. “Unfortunately no one else did.”

But Luka Doncic remained optimistic about the result as the Mavs ended their road trip at a solid 3-2.

“We were [3-2] in this road trip, which was not bad at all,” Doncic said. “It might seem bad because we lost the last two, but it’s not bad at all. We’ve just got to keep continuing to play like we played before these two games.”

Dallas heads back home to face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The game has massive implications as the Mavs are just 1.5 games ahead of the T-Wolves, the difference between the fifth seed which guarantees a spot in the playoffs and the seventh seed which drops them down to the play-in tournament.
