Over the weekend, the New York Post reported that the New York Police Department was investigating a woman's claim that former New York Knicks big man Kristaps Porzingis raped her after suffering a torn ACL during his time with the Knicks. While the accuser did not make any claim against Porzingis (currently a member of the Dallas Mavericks) until just recently, the alleged attack occurred on Feb. 7, 2018. Details surrounding the incident are still emerging as the New York Police Department continues its investigation of such allegations.

The latest comes from a recent report from TMZ:

“[T]he alleged victim told cops Porzingis pinned her down on a bed in his guest room, penetrated her vagina with his penis and then got violent. The woman told cops he hit her in the face several times, spit on her, called her ‘my bitch' and ‘my slave' and said he owned her. We're told the accuser claims he stopped assaulting her as she was putting up a fight.”

Porzingis has yet to officially suit up for the Mavs after being traded there from the Knicks in late January. He is now facing some serious allegations back in New York, which could affect his NBA future. Porzingis has not played this season as he rehabs the torn ACL. He is set to become a restricted free agent on July 1.

It remains to be seen what steps are taken next as the investigation remains ongoing. According to the New York Post, the NYPD's Special Victims Division has taken over the case.
