The Dallas Mavericks got throttled at home by the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night, but don't think that didn't mean that franchise cornerstone Luka Doncic wasn't going to be giving it his all.

The precocious scoring sensation has captivated the league during his age-19 season, so maybe with turning 20 on Thursday, he felt more spry than usual during Saturday's game, attempting to save a loose ball by going amongst the people:

Doncic deserves a modicum of credit for even attempting to chase that ball down where many others would have allowed it to bounce harmlessly out of bounds. He can also get some style points for straight up clearing rows of people, whereas many others have allowed themselves to get tripped up on the heads of unsuspecting fans.

There's also something poetic about the Mavericks faithful rushing to keep Doncic on his feet. In fact, it seems obligatory. Fans paying to see Doncic and his dazzling array of offensive moves should surely be expected to keep up their end of the bargain and not let the future of their organization go splaying across the concourse, right?

Dallas has been strong at home this season, going 21-11 overall. Where things have gone wrong is on the road, where they boast just a 6-24 record, which has them currently seven games out of a playoff spot with just 20 games remaining on the schedule.

The postseason doesn't seem likely in Doncic's rookie year, but come 2019-20, the Mavericks seem poised to make noise with Luka Doncic paving the way.
