Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is progressing well in his recovery from neck injury, but the Mavs are looking for one key indicator to ensure he's ready for Game 5 against the Los Angeles Clippers.
According to Jordan Schultz of ESPN, the Mavs are working with Doncic round the clock and giving him massages and treatment to address his neck issue. While the insider noted that the Slovenian youngster is “feeling better” now, Dallas is said to be aiming to get him to successfully plant his left foot without feeling pain while shooting.
Sources say Luka Doncic is “feeling better” following a hefty dose of massage and treatment. #Mavs’ staff has been working w/Doncic around the clock for the pivotal Game 5, Wednesday night in LA. Key is to allow him to successfully plant off the left foot w/out shooting pain.

To recall, in Game 4 against the Clippers that saw the Mavs lose by 25 points (106-81), Luka Doncic clearly struggled moving around. In fact, whenever he was trying to pass or shoot, there was an obvious grimace on his face–showing that the cervical strain was bothering him.
After the said contest, head coach Rick Carlisle shared how Luka couldn't turn left or even look at his left during the game. The Mavs tactician highlighted that it was difficult for Doncic since he is a player who relies on his peripheral vision to be more effective and dynamic on the court.
Doncic still had 19 points in Game 4, but his impact was severely lessened by the injury. Hopefully, he will be able to be at 100 percent when they suit up on Wednesday at Staples Center. With the series tied at 2-2, the winner of the showdown will have a huge advantage in moving on to the second round.
