The Dallas Mavericks will have a superstar returning to the court on Monday night but will be without another key weapon. NBA Insider Marc Stein reported that Luka Doncic will return after a one-game absence while Jalen Brunson will miss this contest for the Mavs against the Utah Jazz.
All signs point to Luka Dončić (left toe sprain) playing tonight for Dallas after a one-game absence but the Mavericks now list fellow starter Jalen Brunson (right foot contusion) as out for the home date with Utah.

Doncic wasn't out for long but Dallas will certainly be happy to have him back. In 48 games this season, Doncic has averaged 27.8 points per game along with 9.2 rebounds and 8.8 assists. Doncic was also in the midst of some of the best basketball of his career for the Mavs.
Prior to the injury, Doncic was averaging 34.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 8.9 assists in his last 14 games. This wasn't the first time that Doncic missed some time this season. The superstar missed three weeks with a right ankle sprain.
Article Continues BelowThe third overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft has been a force ever since he entered the league. The last two seasons he has been a first-team All-NBA selection. In four NBA seasons, Doncic is averaging 26.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 7.9 assists a game.
Brunson has also found his game this season. In 63 games, he is averaging 16.2 points and 5.3 assists per game. While Doncic is usually expected to do a lot of the heavy lifting for the Mavericks, that will only increase with the loss of Brunson.
With Brunson out, Spencer Dinwiddie is likely to get the start for the Mavs.
Dallas enters Monday sitting at fifth in the Western Conference with a 39-25 record. Right above them is their opponents as the Utah Jazz has gone 8-2 in their last 10 games.
