Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban says Mavs budding star Luka Doncic is a special player for a number of reasons.

Doncic, who won the 2019 Rookie of the Year Award, is the new face of the Mavs franchise now that Dirk Nowitzki is retired.

Mark Cuban couldn't hold back his excitement when he was asked to talk about Doncic during an appearance with “Kanell and Bell” on CBS Sports.

“He has a great basketball IQ, he's got amazing court vision, and he can be physical with guys because of his strength, and because of his height he could make a pass over a guy,” Cuban said. “Every guy on the court knows Luka is going to see them and give them the ball right where they want it right when they need it, and that's what makes him special.

“Not only does he have the vision, not only does he have the anticipation, but he's got the size to be able to see you and get you the ball. It just took him a little bit of time at the beginning of last year to get used to the speed of the game.”

Luka Doncic put on a show from start to finish last season for the Mavs, and all signs point toward Doncic being an All-Star player real soon. The 20-year-old averaged 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists while shooting 42.7 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from beyond the arc and 71.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Doncic recorded 24 double-doubles and eight triple-doubles for the Mavs. Luka led all rookies in points per game and was second in assists per game.
