Though obviously a brilliant athlete – as all NBA players are pretty much required to be – Luka Doncic does look a bit doughy around the face, neck and even tummy area. The Dallas Mavericks’ outspoken owner, Mark Cuban, poked fun at Doncic’s appearance, saying he saw “an ab” when Doncic was working out in the offseason per Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.
. @mcuban says @luka7doncic is "on a boat somewhere," but was in Dallas about 2 weeks ago.
"He came and he was working out with Coach . . I actually saw an ab, so it was a step in the right direction.”
Just one ab?
"There may have been 2. But he’s definitely in better shape."

Doncic, for his part, followed this gentle insult with a statement claiming that six-pack is coming soon.
6 pack coming soon @mcuban 😂😂😂😂

Doncic is the presumptive Rookie of the Year for the 2018-19 season, and he burst onto the scene after an incredibly productive career with Real Madrid in the EuroLeague.
Doncic won two Rising Star awards as the best player younger than 22 in the EuroLeague in 2017 and 2018, while also taking home MVP honors in the 2017-18 EuroLeague season.
Beyond his exploits overseas, Doncic put forth a tremendous rookie campaign in the NBA that was typified by his trademark step-back three-pointers and generally otherworldly shooting touch from all areas of the floor.
In his rookie season, Doncic produced stunning per-game averages of 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6 assists with a 19.6 player efficiency rating and a roughly league-average 54.5 true shooting percentage per Basketball Reference. Though extremely productive and obviously an absolute virtuoso on the basketball court, Doncic’s athletic profile, and frame can sometimes seem a little lacking.
No matter what, Doncic is in line for a terrific season with the Mavs and his new teammate Kristaps Porzingis in the 2019-20 season.
