Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has never been shy about holding NBA refs accountable.

Cuban has a lot of thoughts on how he would revamp NBA officiating. He spoke to Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype about it:

“This is very, very simple: I’d bring in people who are professionals at hiring and training. That’s it. We have none,” Cuban said.

“Just because you’re great at selling, that doesn’t make you a great sales manager. Just because you’re a great reporter, that doesn’t make you a great publisher or editor. You can pick any industry; if you’re great at doing the primary job in that industry, it doesn’t mean you’re going to be great at managing people within that industry. We never learned that lesson in the NBA and that has cost me a lot of money. But it’s an easy change and one of the first things to change.”

The Mavs have filed a protest to the NBA office over their 111-107 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. The protest focuses on Hawks center John Collins' putback with 8.4 seconds left, which led to Cuban criticizing the state of the league's officiating on Twitter following the game.

The Mavs want the game to be replayed before the incorrect goaltending call. The game would then resume with a jump ball with 9.7 seconds left and the Hawks up by two.

It's very doubtful the NBA will listen to the Mavs' protest.
