Here's an idea. Let's forget about cash and just go to cyrptocurrency.

If that sounds crazy, you don't want to talk to Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. Apparently, Cuban will make that exact move with his franchise next season, per Scott Soshnick.

Cryptocurreny — like Bitcoin, Ether and others — are basically electronic currencies that can be exchanged from person to person without the need for banks, and the transactions are encrypted.

Bitcoin is the most famous example of this. It has led to a documentary on Netflix, and most recently, the value of Bitcoins have reportedly taken a turn for the worst.

But Cuban is a business man, and he's not one to avoid taking a calculated risk. But is it too much of a risk to go in on the whole cryptocurrency thing when not many people understand what it is, how to use it or how valuable it actually is?

Well, Cuban's announcement only points to the Mavericks accepting it. That does not mean, however, that the entire company will shift to only accepting that kind of currency in favor of cash, credit cards or other forms of payment, such as Apple Pay.

Still, just the fact that Cuban is moving to accepting the alternative currency says he feels it's a legitimate form of payment, and he wants to let people pay in ways that they are comfortable. And if Bitcoin, Ether or other cryptocurrencies are how his patrons prefer to pay, there's no reason for him to deny them that.
