Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is exploring avenues for playing exhibitions overseas in future seasons, and in so doing plans to pay homage to Mavs star Luka Doncic's trajectory.

Cuban told Marc Stein of the New York Times he has spoken with league officials regarding the potential of setting up exhibitions with Doncic's former Euroleague club, Real Madrid, as well as in Luka's home country of Slovenia.

Doncic is already one of the more marketable stars in just his third season in the NBA. He also has been a basketball prodigy for some time.

The 21-year-old garnered quite the reputation during his days with Real Madrid, becoming the youngest player to ever win Euroleague MVP as an 18-year-old in 2018. Doncic leveraged his success with Real into becoming the third overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft shortly thereafter.

Suffice to say, the Mavs star has exceeded the hype.

Luka was named Rookie of the Year in his first season. He made prodigious strides in his sophomore campaign, averaging 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 8.8 assists while leading the Mavs to the playoffs and providing an indelible moment with his buzzer-beater in Game 4 of the team's first-round series against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Doncic's tremendous playmaking ability, skill and flair make him one of the most enviable young talents in basketball. He is struggling to shoot the ball from the perimeter this season (27.8 percent), but is still averaging 26.1 points, 10.1 rebounds and 9.5 assists in 13 games.

Cuban understands the gravity and star power Doncic holds, including in Europe and his home country. Dallas will continue to gauge the possibility of an exhibition series to highlight Doncic's basketball journey.
