Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle was caught in the crossfire of ESPN's 10-part docu-series “The Last Dance,” which aired its first two episodes last April 19.

The Mavs tactician, who is a former backup shooting guard for the Boston Celtics, was torched on the court by Michael Jordan during the Bulls' matchup with the Cs — although the Boston team eventually won the series and the entire championship in 1986.

Carlisle was caught by cameras getting passed on defense while guarding Jordan. This was even noticed by Rick's current player in Mavs point guard Jalen Brunson.

As for Carlisle though, the Mavs coach is taking the scrutiny of his defense in stride, joking how often he was even playing in the game.

Per Tim MacMahon of ESPN:

“There must have been an exhaustive search to find footage of me actually PLAYING in an NBA playoff game,” Carlisle wrote in a text reply to an inquiry about his thoughts on the clip that showed him as a Boston Celtics reserve guard being torched by Michael Jordan for a dunk after a baseline spin.

Rick Carlisle only averaged under 10 minutes a game in the regular season that year. He also played 5.4 minutes in the postseason, possibly making the teasing less than fair for the Mavs boss.

Michael Jordan scored 63 points as a second-year swingman for the Bulls in Game 2 of the first round of the 1986 Eastern Conference playoffs, averaging 43 points a game in three contests against Boston.
