The Kyrie Irving trade market has been a key fixture of the 2022 NBA offseason. The sense that he could get traded has grown, especially after Kevin Durant requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. Teams with championship ambitions like the Philadelphia 76ers and Dallas Mavericks seem like ideal trade destinations.

However, it will have to be other title hopefuls that strike the deal. According to Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, neither team's interest in Kyrie Irving is that high.

Irving's status is of course connected to Durant's trade outcome as well, but his number of possible outcomes seems far fewer than Ayton's. While the Mavericks and Sixers have been discussed as theoretical destinations for Irving, league sources contacted by B/R have strongly discounted Dallas and Philadelphia's interest in the All-Star guard.

The Sixers' disinterest in Irving was previously reported. The Mavs are on Irving's six-team destination wishlist, along with Philadelphia, but don't have much to trade for him. Although he would be a great fit next to Luka Doncic or Joel Embiid as a secondary scoring option, it seems likely that another team with more picks to trade will get it done.

Kyrie Irving's talent is undeniable but the drama and baggage around him are just as potent, if not more. Even if the Mavs or Sixers had the picks to use in a deal for Irving, trading for him would be a massive risk. Aside from everything that happened last season, he is on an expiring contract. Making a big splash for a player whose value is questionable and then watching him leave after one season would be extremely damaging.

Whenever Kyrie Irving lands, even if it's back in Brooklyn with Durant, will be an interesting situation to watch out for. It just won't be in Philadelphia or Dallas.
