Los Angeles Lakers small forward Kyle Kuzma is a very crafty player, and he showed some of that off on Wednesday against Blake Griffin and the Detroit Pistons at Staples Center.

Sensing that Blake Griffin was waiting for the chase down block, Kyle Kuzma faked out the high flyer with a beautiful ball fake, allowing him to go up for the easy layup while Griffin passed by.

Without LeBron James, who is still recovering from a groin injury, the Lakers need more plays like this from Kyle Kuzma. LA's half court offense isn't that good without James on the floor, so the team needs to score as many fast break points as they can.

Opposing defenses can stop the Lakers in their half court sets pretty easily when James is out. That's why it is imperative for the club to get out in transition and use their speed and youth to score easy baskets without using a lot of energy.

Kyle Kuzma showed last season he has the DNA of a professional scorer, and his play shows that as well. The swingman entered Wednesday averaging 18.2 points per game while shooting 46.3 percent from the field and 29.7 percent from beyond the arc.
