It's safe to say Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy wasn't pleased with the officiating in game one of his team's first round series against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

When Van Gundy was interviewed during the game, he claimed that the referees weren't calling offensive charging fouls on LeBron James because “LeBron's LeBron” and “he gets to do what he wants.”

After the game, he tried to clean up his remarks by saying that the calls “evened out really well,” but the damage was done at that point.

Van Gundy was fined $25K by the NBA for publicly criticizing the officiating, but at least he seems to have taken it well.

“I probably deserve to be penalized for being myself,” Van Gundy said, laughing. “I got no comments on it.”

Van Gundy did admit that he thought the punishment was a bit strong for the crime.

“That's a lot of money. That's not a slap on the wrist,” Van Gundy said. “A slap on the wrist would have been a reprimand. Putting a reprimand or letter of censure in my file. No, this was a punishment.”

However, he's content with the fact that the money will be going to a good cause.

“It goes to charity, which is good,” SVG said. “I support most charitable organizations. I don't know which one I just supported, but I'm happy to do it.”

At this point, Van Gundy is moving on to more important issues, like why he wasn't considered by Sports Illustrated to be one of the best dressed men in sports.
