The Golden State Warriors welcomed the presence of forward Kevin Durant in Game 5. Unfortunately, his return was short-lived when he was forced to leave in the second quarter due to injury.

Warriors president Bob Myers confirmed that Durant suffered an Achilles injury. However, the Dubs are holding out hope that it is not a full-blown rupture.

One of the biggest storylines surrounding the NBA Finals was Durant's looming return. Despite his uncertain status, he was able to make it to Game 5 after missing the previous nine games due to a claf strain.

Durant made his presence felt immediately and provided the Warriors with a much-needed spark after catching fire from deep early on. Unfortunately, he was was not able to finish the game and does not appear in line to make another return any time soon.

Many criticized Durant for being somewhat hesitant to make his return a month after suffering a calf strain. The fact that the Toronto Raptors put the Warriors on the cusp of elimination with a commanding 3-1 series lead certainly did not help his cause. Regardless, it was for this very reason that he appeared to be taking a cautious approach with his recovery.

Durant is scheduled for an MRI to determine the extent of his Achilles injury. Here's to hoping that it's not really a full Achilles rupture.
