After getting off to a productive start to their offseason, the Golden State Warriors are still working to add a stronger supporting cast around franchise superstar Stephen Curry.
After a record-setting season where Curry overachieved with a mediocre roster, the Warriors need to get him help so he can lead Golden State back to the promised land. Just a couple weeks into NBA Free Agency, the Warriors made quality some quality additions with the signings of Otto Porter Jr., Nemanja Bjelica, and Chris Chiozza.
Still seeking to build a stronger supporting cast to get more help for Stephen Curry, the Warriors may look into trading for a big name player who's a non All-Star that would make an immediate impact upon joining the team in their quest to win another NBA title in 2022. Having said all this, let's take a look at the three perfect non All-Stars the Warriors must trade for to help Stephen Curry next season.
Potential Warriors Trades
Joe Ingles
Coming off a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, Joes Ingles will be ready for another productive year during the 2021-22 NBA season. The Jazz have previously considered trading Ingles and there seems to have been mutual interest between Ingles and the Warriors if a trade offer presented itself.
However, it seems that talk has fizzled a bit in recent weeks, but given how crazy this offseason has already been you can never count out the possibility of a blockbuster trade like this taking place.
Especially considering that Ingles would be a perfect fit on the Warriors with his scoring, playmaking, and scrappy perimeter defense. Having him play alongside a trio of Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green would be a nightmare scenario for the entire league. Their ball movement, shooting, and speed would wear out opposing defenses and light up the scoreboard on a nightly basis.
With the addition of Joe Ingles, the Warriors would seal themselves a trip back to the NBA Finals and put the league on notice.
Article Continues BelowObi Toppin
With the Knicks fully committed to Julius Randle long-term, there may not be any room in their deep frontcourt rotation for Obi Toppin to develop his game and grow into a star in this league. On the Warriors, Toppin would get plenty of playing time on a very thin frontline that's in dire need of size, length, and athleticism.
Toppin checks off all of those boxes and gives them a young wing with plenty of upside to his game and some All-Star potential. In their up-tempo, 3-point heavy system, Toppin would be able to evolve his game while learning from the Warriors All-Star trio of Curry, Thompson, and Green.
This move would be a win-win situation for both teams. The Knicks would be able to rid themselves of their frontcourt glut by moving Obi Toppin to the Bay Area and the Warriors would gain a young forward with lots of promise whom they could develop into an All-Star caliber power forward while adding some much-needed size.
Malcolm Brogdon
As one of the NBA's most efficient two-way players, Malcolm Brogdon would be a great addition on the Warriors and give them an additional scorer and playmaker that would lessen Curry's load on the offensive end. With his ability to play point or shooting guard, Brogdon would fit in seamlessly with the chance to win an NBA title for the first time in his career.
Joining Stephen Curry as a member of the 50-40-90 club a few seasons ago, Brogdon would provide Golden State a much-needed boost to their backcourt. If the Warriors want to add a clutch scorer and playmaker who could also provide them with another veteran leader, then this a move that they should definitely look into this offseason.
