It didn't take long for Andrew Wiggins to get the word of his recent trade to the Golden State Warriors, as the aforementioned parted ways with D'Angelo Russell, Omari Spellman, and Jacob Evans.

Wiggins quickly pulled up Instagram, posting the viral video of Drake yelling “Yay Area” at full lung, likely hyped for a fresh beginning.

The Warriors also acquired a top-three protected 2021 first-round pick and a 2021 second-rounder, which would allow them to keep some valuable future draft assets past the potential top-five pick they could get at the end of this season.

Many have been skeptical of how Wiggins would fit in an offense predicated on efficiency, yet a fresh start could really help the young wing get it right this time around.

Wiggins has been enjoying a career-best season, posting averages of 22.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists this season, bouncing back from two underwhelming campaigns as the franchise transitioned from the post-Kevin Garnett retirement era.

The Timberwolves had also lost 13 straight games, but the Warriors haven't done much better this season with the worst record in the league — yet the prospect of lining up next to Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson could be enough to make him yell “Yay Area” just like Drake as he hops on a plane to San Francisco.

The Warriors could still flip Wiggins in the summer, but that could prove a daunting proposition, considering his market value and reputation in the league.
