Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant is headed for free agency this summer, and the general consensus all season long has been that he will end up taking his talents to the New York Knicks or Los Angeles Clippers.
However, Warriors general manager Bob Myers remains optimistic that Durant will re-sign with the Warriors, according to Nick Friedell of ESPN. Myers added that Durant has been “everything” to them.
Durant signed with Golden State during the summer of 2016 and proceeded to lead the Warriors to back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018, taking home Finals MVP honors both times.
He then seemed primed to lead the Warriors to a third straight title this season before a calf injury in the second-round of the playoffs sidelined him and caused him to miss the Dubs' four-game sweep of the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference Finals.

He got off to a great start — scoring 11 points in the first quarter — but it was short-lived after he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in the second quarter of the contest.
The Achilles injury will likely keep him out for the rest of the 2019-20 season.
The Warriors, who then lost Klay Thompson to a torn ACL in Game 6, ultimately ended up falling to the Raptors in six games.
