Golden State Warriors big man DeMarcus Cousins participated in a closed scrimmage on Wednesday as he continues to get closer to a return.

Cousins is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon he suffered last season while playing with the New Orleans Pelicans. It is still unknown when the four-time All-Star will make his season debut, but it's looking like it's going to be once 2019 hits:

Cousins signed a one-year, $5.3 million deal with the Warriors in July after his free-agent market dwindled due to the Achilles injury. Boogie was averaging 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds in 48 games with New Orleans while shooting 47.0 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from beyond the arc before he got hurt.

The Warriors have said all along they are not going to rush Cousins back onto the court. Achilles injuries might be the toughest surgery to come back from for a professional athlete. Despite losing to the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas, Golden State is still in second place in the Western Conference with a record of 23-12.

DeMarcus Cousins has been practicing with the Warriors' G League team as well. Once he is cleared to play, the 28-year-old will likely enter Golden State's starting lineup, giving them All-Stars at all five positions.
