If there is one thing we can always count on Draymond Green for, it is to freely speak his mind, especially when it pertains to the Golden State Warriors struggles. Recently returning from his suspension, Green is looking to help change the Warriors' recent misfortunes, as the team has dropped eight of their last 11 games and are rapidly sinking in the Western Conference standings. As a result, the Warriors have been involved in numerous trade rumors through the weeks.
From ideas pertaining to Golden State pursuing big names on the market to the possibility of everyone not named Stephen Curry being on the trade block, Green and the Warriors have heard all the noise. However, Green doesn't appear to be bothered by all of the trade chatter going on, especially since he has faith in what they can achieve.
“There have been a lot of trade rumors. I know my name has come up. I know everyone's name has come up except for Steph Curry,” Green stated on a recent episode of The Draymond Green Show. “My name has not come up in trade rumors too often… To be honest, I have not thought about it one bit. I don't make much of it at all. Rumors are just that.”
Currently 18-22 on the season, it wouldn't be a shock to anyone to see the Warriors make some type of change at the trade deadline. Their plan to compete for championships now while also building for the future has seemed to blow up, plus Golden State is currently outside of the play-in region of the Western Conference standings.
Article Continues BelowWhether they look to deal for a big name on the trade block or attempt to add experienced depth, the Warriors are evaluating all of their options.
“We've never really been an active team at the trade deadline. However, we do also have a new GM, and Mike [Dunleavy Jr.] has been incredible by the way. You know, he could work differently than Bob [Myers] and could be more aggressive at the trade deadline than Bob,” Green continued. “I don't know, I don't really have a feel for it. Would I be shocked if something was changed and some trades happen? No, I wouldn't be shocked [since] we're 18-22.
“Do I think I'll be traded? No, I hope not. But, if any of those things happen, that's part of the business that you chose to be a part of.”
Time will tell what the future holds for the Warriors and their three-man core of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, three future Hall of Famers that have delivered four titles to the Bay Area since 2015.
