SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors fans know about the Draymond Green and Kevin Durant fight in 2019. This summer, the two NBA stars decided to sit down and speak about it publicly on Bleacher Report's Chips with Draymond Green. Green talked with the local media about it for the first time after Thursday's practice, sharing what he learned from the experience and more.
“What it really showed me was everything that I already thought. Which are people really push narratives. People are sending me some stuff, and I saw some things where people were like, ‘Oh no, they're lying!' Like me and Kevin are lying. Just because what I said doesn't really fit their narrative,” Green told ClutchPoints.
It's understandable for fans to feel there was more to the situation than what the two stars provided in the interview. According to Green, what he and Durant shared on the screen was genuine and the truth. But the public argument that the world saw during a Warriors game against the Los Angeles Clippers is still fresh on many people's minds, and things don't quite add up for some.
“What the hell do we get out of lying? What point are we proving? What does that accomplish? If I took anything from it, it's just kind of what I already thought. I was just given confirmation. People are going to push narratives,” Green said.
This situation will always be surrounded by controversy. Since the air is somewhat clearer, Green and the Warriors organization are moving on from that chapter. Now the new challenge is starting over and making their way back to the NBA Finals.
