The Golden State Warriors and general manager Bob Myers hit a bit of a snag in 2019-20, but then again, who didn't? After winning five straight Western Conference titles and three NBA titles, the Dubs will now make its first round NBA Draft selection at No. 2 in 2020–something that most people couldn't have imagined when last season got underway.
However, Myers has already made his 2020 NBA Draft intentions quite clear, as the Warriors will be looking ahead toward the future while staying relevant in the present.
“There’s no Tim Duncan, where the guy is a senior and he is going to be great automatically and you win now and win for the next 20 years,” the Warriors GM said about the 2020 NBA Draft, via Eastbay Times. “I think you owe it to the organization to build towards the future if there’s not an obvious win-now guy. If the win-now guy helps win four regular-season games, then what’s the point of that? When you’re talking win now, for us, you’re really talking about winning in the playoffs, and what rookie is going to come in and help you win now in the playoffs?”

With point guard Stephen Curry, shooting guard Klay Thompson and forward Draymond Green still making up a talented group of veteran players, and then some, the Warriors will be in incredibly good shape regardless of who the team ultimately selects in the Nov. 18 rookie selection.
Golden State simply needs the trio of Curry, Thompson and Green to stay healthy to stay competitive today while accumulating assets for the future.
