Members of the Golden State Warriors reportedly prefer that All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson sits out Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.
Thompson suffered a left hamstring strain in Game 2. The Warriors are listing Thompson as questionable, but Klay insists that he wants to play no matter what.
Reporting with @ramonashelburne: Golden State officials prefer Klay Thompson sit out Game 3 to protect his sore hamstring for the rest of NBA Finals, but Thompson has continued to lobby them on playing tonight. Decision looms prior to tip.

In the 2019 playoffs, Thompson is averaging 19.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists. The five-time All-Star is shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 41.1 percent from beyond the arc and 89.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The Warriors and Toronto Raptors are tied at 1-1 in the best of seven series. Golden State took home-court advantage in the series by winning Game 2 up in Toronto. To keep home-court advantage, the Warriors have to win both Games 3 and 4 in Oakland.
Kevin Durant won't play in Game 3 and Kevon Looney is out for the rest of the series. Thompson, one of the toughest players in the league, has never missed a playoff game in his NBA career. Even if the Warriors' brass wants Klay to sit out Game 3, it's highly unlikely the sharpshooter will listen since he's a competitor and wants to be out there with his teammates.
Thompson told reporters on Tuesday he'll be a game time decision.
