The Golden State Warriors still have an open roster spot, and general manager Bob Myers says the decision on who takes that slot will come within the next few days, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

The last slot will be filled by a second two-way contract, with Myers mentioning 26-year-old wing Damion Lee as a possibility.

This summer has certainly not been kind to the Warriors, as they lost to the Toronto Raptors in the NBA Finals and saw Kevin Durant tear his Achilles and Klay  Thompson tear his ACL in the process.

Durant then left the Warriors for the Brooklyn Nets, and Thompson will be out most of next season as he recovers from his injury.

Golden State was able to pivot and land D'Angelo Russell, and it also retained Kevon Looney and signed Willie Cauley-Stein, but in addition to losing Durant, it traded away Andre Iguodala, waived Shaun Livingston and saw DeMarcus Cousins sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Obviously, the Dubs are no longer the bona fide title contenders they have been for the last five years, and while they will still be big-time threats if Thompson is able to come back healthy at some point next season, that is probably not that likely.

The Warriors have made five straight finals appearances, winning three championships during that span. They are coming off of a six-game defeat to the Raptors, ending their quest of trying to win three straight titles (they won their championships in 2015, 2017 and 2018).
