ESPN's Jalen Rose praised Draymond Green's level of self-awareness after the Golden State Warriors' emotional leaders signed a four-year, $100 million extension to lock up his long-term commitment to the team. Green did secure a fourth-year player option, but that won't happen for another four years, as this extension could potentially keep him with the franchise for the next five years.
Rose noted Green's intelligence and vision, seeing that the market would substantially dry up next year, with only five teams able to pay the max for a free agent. The concept of a potential max or supermax deal with the Warriors was also unlikely, given the haul they've given to Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and D'Angelo Russell.

He is the perfect example in the NBA of mastering your role, and Draymond Green has done that.
Rose also noted that Green is in the perfect situation to maximize his talent, and chasing the money trail isn't always the best answer in these sort of circumstances:
“You leave the Golden State Warriors, you don't know what you're getting into around the league,” he said. “Ask Dwight Howard when he left Orlando, ask Deron Williams when he left Utah, ask Carmelo Anthony when he left Denver. You don't know what you're getting into.”
Green has spent his entire career with one team and has been a vocal leader for this supernova that took the NBA by storm the past five seasons. The Warriors have now locked up at least the next three years of a Curry-Thompson-Green-Russell core, at least contractually, which should bode well for their chances to keep their dynasty alive — even if it means regressing at first.
