San Francisco, Ca – It's normal to have butterflies before a big test. On Saturday night, Golden State Warriors guard Jordan Poole had the biggest test of his young career. He made his NBA playoff debut. It didn't seem like he had any jitters coming into the game. The rising star started the game making his first 6 baskets of the game and finished the first half with a game-high 17 points.
“I didn't know what to expect for the playoffs,” Poole told ClutchPoints. “Last year, the people that I asked about the Play-in games said that it was pretty close in terms of atmosphere and physicality, and the details. I’m just trying to be as prepared as possible.”
Earlier this week, Kevon Looney said Poole has been asking questions about the playoffs since he arrived in the Bay Area. When you have multiple teammates who have won multiple championships, picking their brains is a smart thing to do.

Those questions helped prepare Poole for this moment, and the poised youngster from Milwaukee showed out on the NBA's biggest stage. The Warriors talent finished the night with a game-high 30 points. Poole’s 30-point game tied Mitch Richmond for the second-most by a Warrior in a playoff debut. Wilt Chamberlain had the most with 35 points.
Poole wasn't overly excited about the victory or his superb debut. It's only Game 1 to him and his teammates. It was a great performance by the 22-year-old. But in the playoffs, you have to do it again in a couple of days. Poole’s mind and everyone else in the locker room are already focused on that.
